SUMMER 2026 COHORT | STARTS JUNE 2026 | APPLY NOW

Launch Your Career in AI Security

Our intern program pairs you with seasoned professionals who've built enterprise security at scale. You won't fetch coffee, you'll ship code, review architectures, and present to real customers.

Why Intern at Kestra Labs

We built this program because we remember what it was like starting out. The gap between a classroom and a production security stack is massive, we bridge it.

🎯

Real Work, Real Impact

No busy work. You'll work on production systems, the same codebase, the same infrastructure, the same customers. Your commits go to main, not a sandbox.

👨‍🏫

1-on-1 Mentorship

Every intern is paired with a senior engineer who's been in the industry 10+ years. Weekly 1-on-1s, daily standups, and an open-door policy for questions. No question is too basic.

🏗️

Build Your Portfolio

By the end of your internship you'll have production experience, a reference letter, and real projects to show future employers. We want you to leave better than you arrived.

🔐

Enterprise Security Stack

Get hands-on with zero-trust architecture, Key Management, SSO federation, device posture, policy engines, and compliance frameworks most engineers don't see until year five.

🤝

Certification Support

We cover the cost of one industry certification during your internship: AWS, Azure, CompTIA Security+, or similar. Study time is built into your schedule.

🚀

Path to Full-Time

Our best interns get full-time offers. This isn't a revolving door, it's a pipeline. We invest in you because we want you to stay.

What Your 12 Weeks Look Like

A structured program that ramps you from onboarding to owning a deliverable.

1
Weeks 1 – 2: Onboarding

Learn the Stack

Get access to the codebase, meet your mentor, attend architecture walkthroughs, and complete a guided setup of your development environment. You'll deploy your first change to staging by end of week two.

2
Weeks 3 – 6: Deep Dive

Contribute to Production

Pick up real tickets from the backlog. Pair-program with senior engineers. Attend customer calls to understand how your work impacts real organizations. Code reviews teach you patterns no textbook covers.

3
Weeks 7 – 10: Own a Project

Lead a Deliverable

You'll own a defined project end-to-end: design, build, test, deploy. Your mentor guides you, but you drive the decisions. This becomes the centerpiece of your portfolio.

4
Weeks 11 – 12: Present & Reflect

Demo Day

Present your project to the entire team and leadership. Get feedback, celebrate your work, and leave with a reference letter. If you've crushed it, expect a full-time conversation.

Open Intern Positions

All positions are paid internships starting June 2026. Remote-friendly with optional on-site time. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, apply early.

Cybersecurity Engineer Intern

Intern Remote OK 12 Weeks · June 2026
+

The Role

You'll work directly on the security infrastructure that protects our customers' credentials and AI interactions. This is hands-on engineering, writing code that enforces zero-trust policies, building encryption pipelines, and hardening serverless functions against real-world attack vectors.

What You'll Work On

  • Implement and test credential encryption/decryption flows across our three-tier vault model (SOHO, Bank, Zero Trust)
  • Build and maintain serverless security functions: Key Management integration, secret rotation, memory-safe credential handling
  • Write automated security tests for policy engine rules (deny-by-default, role-based access, connector-level permissions)
  • Contribute to device posture validation logic across MDM provider integrations
  • Participate in security code reviews and threat modeling sessions

What We're Looking For

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field (junior or senior year preferred)
  • Comfortable writing Python, you don't need to be an expert, but you should be able to read and debug code independently
  • Basic understanding of encryption concepts (symmetric vs. asymmetric, hashing, key management)
  • Curiosity about how things break, you like asking "what if someone tried to..."
  • Familiarity with Linux command line and Git
👨‍🏫

Your mentor: A senior security engineer with 12+ years building enterprise security platforms. They've seen breaches, led incident responses, and designed the vault architecture you'll be working in. They'll teach you what no classroom can.

Cybersecurity Analyst Intern

Intern Remote OK 12 Weeks · June 2026
+

The Role

You'll be the person who catches what others miss. As a Cybersecurity Analyst intern, you'll monitor, investigate, and document security events across our platform. Think of yourself as the detective, you look at the evidence (logs, alerts, anomalies) and figure out the story.

What You'll Work On

  • Monitor and triage security alerts from our observability stack, identify real threats vs. noise
  • Analyze audit logs across MCP Fortress and PAT Fortress to detect anomalous access patterns
  • Help build and refine detection rules for our webhook alerting system (request.denied, anomaly.detected, credential.expiring)
  • Assist with SOC 2 Type II compliance evidence gathering, learn what auditors actually look for
  • Write security incident reports and contribute to our internal knowledge base
  • Participate in tabletop exercises simulating credential compromises and API abuse scenarios

What We're Looking For

  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Criminal Justice with a cyber focus, or related field
  • Strong analytical thinking, you like puzzles and patterns
  • Basic familiarity with log analysis (even if it's just reading JSON or CSV files)
  • Interest in compliance frameworks (SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO 27001), you don't need to be an expert, just curious
  • Clear written communication, security findings are only useful if you can explain them
👨‍🏫

Your mentor: A senior security analyst who's spent 10+ years in security operations, from SOC floors to compliance audits. They've written the detection rules that catch real attacks and will teach you how to think like both a defender and an attacker.

Cloud Architect Intern

Intern Remote OK 12 Weeks · June 2026
+

The Role

You'll work on the cloud infrastructure that powers everything: the serverless functions, databases, CDN, caching layers, and deployment pipelines. This is the foundation that MCP Fortress and PAT Fortress run on. If the security team is the vault door, you're the building it sits in.

What You'll Work On

  • Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for serverless functions, managed databases, CDN distributions, and caching layers
  • Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines: automated testing, staging deployments, and production rollouts
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and cost, identify bottlenecks and optimize resource allocation
  • Implement infrastructure security controls: network isolation, service roles, encryption at rest and in transit
  • Contribute to disaster recovery and backup automation
  • Document architecture decisions and runbooks for the operations team

What We're Looking For

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, IT Infrastructure, or related field
  • Familiar with at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP), even if it's just personal projects or coursework
  • Comfortable with Python scripting and basic command-line operations
  • Interest in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK, any exposure counts)
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (DNS, load balancing, VPCs, subnets)
👨‍🏫

Your mentor: A senior cloud architect with 15+ years building production infrastructure for Fortune 500 companies. They've designed systems that handle millions of requests per day and will teach you how to think about scale, cost, and reliability from day one.
